A corner with a lamp and a plant
The smallest room in the flat is the one I spend most time in.

The hall has a corner nobody used. I put a chest of drawers there, a tall black lamp and a plant that needs very little light.
Now it is where I take off my coat and drop my keys and stand for a moment before going in. The lamp is on a timer and comes on at four in winter.
Why it works
Every object has a job. The drawers hold gloves. The lamp means home. The plant means I am not the only living thing in the flat.
