A bag for the bike

I sewed a pannier out of old canvas. It holds groceries and survives rain.

Tove Hallberg

Bike bags in the shop cost more than the bike did. I had an old canvas tent in the cellar, so I cut it up.

Two hooks from the hardware store, a strip of plywood for the back, a flap with a buckle. It took a weekend and two broken needles.

It holds a week of shopping. It survived a downpour on the way home with nothing wet inside. People ask where I bought it. I say, a tent.

I would buy one of these. Let me know if you make another.
