The rehearsal room before anyone arrives
Drums under a light, cables on the floor, and the hum of an amp left on.
Sara Ek
Our band rehearses in a basement under a bike shop. I have the key, so I am always first. I like the room empty.
The drum kit sits under the one lamp that works. The amps hum. There is a smell of dust and old coffee.
Ten minutes
I tune my bass alone before the others come. Then the drummer arrives, kicks the door open, and the room stops being quiet for three hours. I like that part too.
