Coffee that tastes like the cup
I bought better beans. The mug is still from a petrol station. That is the flavour I actually want.

A shop tried to sell me a ceramic that would honour the roast. I used it twice. The coffee tasted careful. Then I went back to the thick mug with the faded logo and it tasted like morning again.
The beans matter. So does the thing you hold. I will not pretend I can tell origin notes through a souvenir from E4.
The kettle
I boil more water than I need and let the extra sit. The first pour is too hot. I have known this for years and I still do it.
