A chair I keep not throwing out
One spindle is loose. I have the glue. I sit in it anyway and listen to it complain.
It is a kitchen chair that wandered into the hall. The joint clicks when I lean back, which I do because the other chairs are honest and boring.
I bought hide glue last spring. It is still in the paper bag. Repairing it would mean a weekend and a clamp I don't own. Leaving it means I notice I am sitting down.
What I tell guests
That I like it. Which is true. I do not mention the bag of glue in the drawer. They would offer to help, and then I would have to finish the job.
