A clock with no numbers
I bought it for the shape and then spent a month learning to read it.
The clock in the hall has two hands and a plain wooden face. No numbers, no ticks, not even a dot at twelve. I liked it in the shop because it looked calm.
At home it made me late twice. Quarter past and twenty past look the same when you are pulling on boots. Then my eye learned the angles and now I read it faster than the oven display.
What it taught me
People will learn a quiet design if it is used every day. They will not learn it if it only shows up once a year. A clock gets a hundred chances. A website does not.
