Chairs that wait well
A waiting room is a design brief nobody wants. Some of them answer it anyway.
The clinic on the third floor has low grey chairs, a lamp bent over the corner and a window that faces another window. Nobody would photograph it. I sat there for forty minutes and did not get angry once.
The chairs are far enough apart that you don't share an armrest. The lamp is warm. There is no television telling you about vitamins.
The brief
Make people feel that waiting is allowed. That is the whole job. Most rooms fail because someone wanted them to look busy.
