A speaker made of clay
Someone threw it on a wheel and put a cone inside. It sounds like a room, not a box.
A potter at the Saturday market had one on the table, playing a radio station too quietly. White glaze, a round mouth, a cable out the back like a tail. I asked if it was a joke. She said it was a speaker.
I bought it because I wanted to know if she was right. She was. Voices sound warmer through it. Bass sounds like a polite suggestion.
On the desk
It sits next to the screen and makes the whole corner look less like an office. I play the news through it, which almost makes the news bearable.
