Typing up my mother's recipes
Her handwriting leans like it was always in a hurry. I am slower.
My mother kept her recipes in a ring binder held together with tape. Some pages are stuck together with what I think is syrup. I have started typing them into a document, one a week, so the binder can retire.
It is slow work. She wrote half the measurements as a cup or a little. I have to make each one to find out what she meant.
What I keep
The notes in the margin. Too sweet. Better with more butter. Dad liked this. I type those in too, in brackets, exactly as she wrote them.
