Walking
The valley with the cliff
We drove four hours to walk two. Worth every kilometre.
Karin Moberg
Summer holiday, the mountains, a valley with a cliff face so tall it made the pines look like grass. We walked from the car park to the river and back. That was all.
My legs were fine. My neck hurt from looking up. My son counted climbers on the rock face and got to eleven.
What I took home
A pine cone, a sunburn on one ear, and the feeling that I am very small. I need that feeling about once a year. It keeps the rest of the year in proportion.
