Water
A wave I tried to photograph
Two hundred attempts. The sea did not hold still for any of them.
Erik Strand
I wanted one picture of a wave just as it curls. I went to the beach in October with a camera and stood there until my fingers were numb.
Every picture was a moment too late or too early. Water does not care about timing. In the end I kept one that is a bit blurry, with the sun low behind it.
What it looks like
Like a wave. Nothing more. But I know how long I stood there, and so the picture holds the whole afternoon.
