Notes
A boat on a still night
Notes from a sleepless night at anchor.
Erik Strand
We anchored in a bay with no other boats. At two in the morning I woke and could not get back to sleep, so I went up on deck.
No wind. Stars above and stars in the water, so the boat seemed to hang in the middle of them. I wrote three lines in the logbook and then just sat there.
The three lines
Wind: none. Sea: none. Crew: one awake. That is the whole entry. My brother found it in the morning and laughed. Then he asked if I would wake him next time.
